Movies and TV Shows
I don't often watch movies or tv shows. Don't get me wrong I used to watch tv everyday, when I was a kid I literally needed to have my tv playing everynight in order for me to fall asleep, and I only grew out of it by the time I was 17 or 18?? I had a good 2000s boxy tv, that I really loved. I refused to upgrade to a flatscreen until it finally stopped working (around 2016 maybe). I "upgraded" around the time Netflix and streaming services completely took off, and my love for watching TV diminished. Too many choices and none of them are truly mine. Nowadays I rarely watch anything new at all.

The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015)
This movie is the reason I wanted to add this section to my website. I was going through my old art school notebooks and folders, trying to find a specific drawing from a specific person. Instead, I found on the back of one of my old sketchbooks, a different drawing by another specific person. I had completely forgotten about it. Underneath the drawing there were two movies titles, that I can only assume were recommendations given to me by that person.
That happened quite a few years ago. I know I didn't watch this movie back then as I was too busy with school or my own interests to really pay attention to it. I am older now, maybe not wiser but definitely older. And I re-discovered that sketchbook page at a coincidential moment where it felt quite important to me. So I watched it the next day. I did enjoy watching this movie, it is certainly not something I would've picked by myself but I did like it. Minnie is quite relatable for me, unfortunately. I wonder if it was that obvious to this specific person, or if they knew me better than I thought they did back then. I wish I could remember the conversation that sparked this.

Wristcutters: A love Story (2006)
Second, and last, movie on my sketchbook recommendations. As mentioned in the The Diary of a Teenage Girl log, this was recommended to me years ago and I completely forgot about it until I was looking through my old sketchbooks and notebooks. From the premise alone I could see why this was recommended to me by that specific person. Funny in an early 2000s emo way. I liked the beginning and I really liked the ending but the middle is kinda dull. I wouldn't consider this a love story but what do I know.

Superman (2025)
Movie of the fucking year. Peak. Absolute peak for DC movies. I'm not even a huge Superman fan but this was sooo good. I adored this version of Lois, it made me really appreciate her character. I'm obssessed with Nicholas Hoult performance as Lex Luthor. I'm writting this after the announcement of Man of Tomorrow (2027) and I cannot wait to see more of him. Also I really liked the color grading. This movie (minus the whole black hole pocket universe thing) feels "real", in a way thats very rare for comic book movies post-mcu.

Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League (2025)
I haven't even seen the first Batman Ninja movie, I only watched this one because I saw clips of the Robins on tumblr and it peaked my attention. I love Jessica's design. Fun for an elseworlds movie.

Mickey 17 (2025)
Did I also watch this because I saw gifs of it on tumblr.com? You bet I did.
I am not a big fan of gloomy science fiction where the entire premise is that the world is bad. But I really liked this movie. Funny but political at the same time, charming characters.

Titans (2018)
Season 1
I watched most of it during a 9hr flight to Las Vegas back in January. I know I've watched S1 before (S2 too maybe?? idk who knows, not my shitty memory. Exactly why I am doing this.), probably shortly after it first came out. But as I've been getting back into DC it was fun to dive back into it. I don't think that this is the worst superhero comic book adaptation ever. It is certainly a step up from the DC CW shows as far as I'm concerned. It's campy and fun imo. I really liked Raven this season. I find Dove to be quite boring.
